There's been a huge trend for using pink throughout the home during the last year or two and nowhere more so than bathrooms or cloakrooms. As pink bathrooms are trending right now it is no surprise that our pretty petal shaped Nyla basin is one of our customers favourite designs.

Why are pink bathrooms so popular?

Pink is a colour of nurturing and caring. A perfect choice for the bathroom where we can pamper and care for ourselves. Pink has been an enduring colour for bathrooms since the 1950s when the trend of candy colours brought light into the post war world. Pink, yellow and soft blue ceramic sinks and tiles started to appear in bathrooms around the world.

The powder puff pink bathroom interior was also popularised around the 50s and 60s in the US by The First Lady Mamie Eisenhower who's love of pink saw her redecorate their private apartments in the White House in pink.

Fast forward to today and pink has recently re-appeared in our lives. The soft bubblegum colour known as 'millennial pink' is still very much on trend. Bouncing back from years of neutral trends in our home, colour, especially pink, is coming back into our lives.

We're seeing coloured sanitaryware come back into the bathroom with the pink toilet, basin and the pink bath tub. Alongside the sanitaryware, pink walls, pink wall tiles and all kinds of pink accessories are obtainable to help you create your dream pink bathroom.

Pink isn't just popular in bathroom decor either. As pink is such a versatile colour we're seeing pink walls appear in living rooms, pink tiles in kitchens, pink appliances, flooring and so many other aspects of interior design turning pink.

With interior designers and influencers leading the way and inspiring us, it seems that this trend is here to stay. So let's look at some ideas and inspiration to help you design your perfect pink bathroom.

If you are thinking about using pink in your bathroom then we say go for it. It can be a really versatile colour and we have put together three looks around our Nyla basin. Plus we're sharing a couple of great pink bathroom schemes from some of our favourite Instagram accounts AND.... we have a new pink basin launching later this year so keep your eyes peeled for that one!

All stockists are listed at the bottom of the post.

Time to toughen up your pink

Pink doesn’t have to look frou frou or frilly. A great way to achieve this is to pair it with blacks, greys and graphic prints for a more edgy look. This gorgeous 'Wonderlust - Blush' wallpaper is by designer Anna Hayman and we love it for its delicate tones of faded blush and metallic charcoal, inspired by Moroccan tiles. It pairs perfectly with Bert & Mays range of Darkroom tiles. To complement our dusky pink Nyla basin, add some 'Desert Pink' tiles by London Encaustic and small accessories and details like your hand towels. We have finished off this look with a touch of luxe with mother of pearl bathroom accessories.

You could also try our beautiful Olive basin, with its rustic grey floral design or our Laurence basin for a more contemporary modern look. Both of these would look great next to other pink elements.

How do you create a timeless pink bathroom?

Use a mixture of pink tones and pattern to create a look for your bathroom design that is traditional and timeless yet always up to date. A classic botanical wallpaper is the perfect timeless pink backdrop. We're choosing House of Hackney's iconic Artemis wallpaper in Blush. Beautiful natural wood is a great choice for this look. Our Willow basin is also a natural fit for this type of look with its timeless floral design and traditional shape.

Our Violet Vanity unit has a timeless feel as it features gorgeous traditional cotton reel legs. Fine gold or brass details such as your hardware, mirror and taps and a little plant life gives this look a pretty but elegant look which will stand the test of time.

Mixing pink and peacock shades

If like me you cant resist a touch of those peacock tones around your home and especially in your bathroom decor then pink, blues and greens are the perfect pairing. If you like a more contemporary look then deep midnight blues and minty greens mixed with light pink are a great option.

If you like to add layers of luxe finishes and patterns then jade or emerald greens and this striking peacock wallpaper in your bathroom or cloakroom or perhaps in your bedroom would lead very nicely onto an en-suite.

We think our Autumn, Wren, Sienna, Gracie and Blossom basins are all great choices for mixing with other pink finishes in your bathroom too.
